Check this out

when you figure that women eat a few pounds of lip product throughout their life (and that the chemicals are absorbed into your body through your lips and mouth), it’s a good idea to go organic with your lip products too! (and men, i know you like chapstick. don’t pretend you don’t.)
i’ve gone through and ranked my top 10 organic chapsticks for you guys to try (well, 11…i cheated with #1). also, i did NOT include chapsticks if they were not truly organic as labeled, if they contained potentially hazardous chemicals, or if the EWG didn’t rate them as a low or no hazard.
some of these have vegan versions :) i personally love a big, bloody steak, but wanted to include options for my readers! rank product price where to buy 1 unrefined coconut oil* $6-$15/ jar any health food store 2 dr. bronner’s lip balm* $2.50-$3 http://www.drbronner.com/DBMS/LIP.htm 3 the honest co. lip balm trio pack* $9.95 https://www.honest.com/bath-and-body/honest-organic-lip-balm-trio 4 botanical earth olive oil lip balm $3.25 http://www.botanicalearth.com/item/Olive_Oil_Lip_Balm/217/c52 5 badger balm* $2.99 http://www.badgerbalm.com/p-414-classic-lip-balm.aspx 6 sanre lip balm* $4.99-$9.99 http://www.sanreorganic.com/lip-balms.html 7 chagrin valley lip butter balm* $3.85 http://www.chagrinvalleysoapandsalve.com/products/42/47/for-the-face/lip-butter-balms 8 eco lips gold* $3.50 http://www.ecolips.com/store/products/16-eco-lips-gold-usda-certified-organic-lip-balm.aspx 9 the merry hempsters lip balm* $2.99 http://merryhempsters.com/hemp/balm/LIP-BALM.html 10 baby bear shop lip balm* $5.95 http://www.babybearshop.com/organic-lip-balm.html 11 face naturals lip balm $4.95 http://facenaturals.com/index.php?route=product/category&path=131_155

Ever tried making your own chapstick? Apparently after the initial investment, it can be pretty cheap! (like, $1 or less per tube). I just bought some Dr. Bronner’s chapstick, but I hope to make my own in the future!
What’s the deal with Burt’s bees? It says 100% natural and I know a lot of things say that, but what in it that ISN’T good? I’m allergic to every store bought brand except for bb, it doesn’t matter too much anymore because I’m in transition a beta care to all organic products. But I was just curious!
Check this out… I love their lip balms and soaps and creams
What about Burt’s bees?? I know they had lead in one of their lipsticks, but is that in chap sticks? And I’m sure they would have fixed it in the lipsticks since there were many complaints. I love my Burt’s, an I hope it’s okay
Just discovered your blog and have fallen in love. I just started no-poo, oil cleansing, homemade deodorant, and a bunch of other stuff all in one hit a few weeks ago, so everything here has been so useful.
In terms of lip balm, though, I have started using my own home-made lip balm, and it smells ridiculously good. If you already have things like coconut oil and shea butter at home, it will cost barely anything to get the rest of the ingredients:
I personally love Evolution of Smooth, and that’s organic and vegan. Right now I’m still on my first one cause they have so much in one round ball. I’m using the melon scented one and my sister is using the mint scented one.
I’m always looking for lipbalms to try and Burts Bees is good so far, got to check out more. The ones you’ve listed aren’t a beta care usually sold where I am. I have to carry around my lipbalm constantly, can’t a beta care be without it. After applying, usually lipstick on top :P
Plain cocoa butter works best for me! I find it moisturizes better, a beta care is longer lasting, and just as shiny as coconut oil. Cocoa butter is sold at corner pharmacies in Colombia (country not university) already in cute chapstick containers — to give credit where due! *P.S. Just found this site and I’m obsessed!!! I love that all of my crunchy DIY beauty/ hygiene needs are met in one place!
