Hi everyone, cherry me baby lips Jenni here… Today is super special, I have my first guest post-and it’s a good one! Kelly McNelis is the writer behind the blog New Leaf Wellness . She is a like minded mom of 3 girls (whoa!) who’s into exercise, cooking and blogging! Kelly’s blog is sharp-I love her mission-”to help moms fit home, cooking, exercise and positive thinking into their busy lives”. She’s sharing her recipe for pink lemonade lip balm! A girl can’t have too many DIY lip balms is what I always say! I love that she uses beet powder. I’ve ordered mine and can’t cherry me baby lips wait to try it in this recipe and a few other’s I have up my sleeve! ENJOY!!
I got the idea to make pink lemonade chapsticks when I was making lemon sugar scrubs as favors for my sister-in-law’s bridal shower , but I ran out of time and money and had to put the idea on the back-burner.
Well, I found a little extra time last week and was able to whip up a batch of pink lemonade chapsticks cherry me baby lips in 10 minutes flat. I even designed a cute little label to print on address label paper. Here’s the free printable so you can use it, too: Pink Lemonade Chapstick Labels
I’m absolutely in love with how these chapsticks turned out. They’re all-natural and made with five, simple ingredients: coconut oil, beeswax, grape seed oil, beet root powder, and lemon essential oil. The final product feels super soft on your lips and smells amazing! More info about the ingredients
Beeswax is solid at room temperature and makes these chapsticks into solid sticks. It also makes the chapstick last on your lips for a long time. I use white beeswax over yellow so it doesn’t affect the pink color of the final product.
Beet root powder is the secret ingredient that adds the natural pink tint to these chapsticks. I’ve tried coloring chapsticks with fresh fruit puree, fruit juice, and even food coloring (yuck!), but nothing cherry me baby lips else colors the chapsticks evenly.
Yields: Five homemade pink lemonade chapsticks (.15oz each) Materials 2 tablespoons organic virgin coconut oil (find it HERE) 1 tablespoon white beeswax pellets (find it HERE) 1 teaspoon grape seed oil (find it HERE) 1/4 teaspoon beet root powder (find it HERE) 10 drops certified organic lemon essential oil (find it HERE ) Medicine syringe 5 empty lip balm containers (find it HERE) Address labels to print labels cherry me baby lips (optional) (find it HERE ) Directions In a small saucepan, melt coconut cherry me baby lips oil and beeswax over low heat. Add grapeseed oil, beet root powder, and lemon essential oil. Stir to combine. With the pan still on the stovetop, use your medicine cherry me baby lips syringe to fill your chapstick containers with about one teaspoon (5ml) of the melted liquid. (You need to keep the pan on the stovetop because the melted liquid will cool and harden very quickly if it s off the stove. Continue to mix the ingredients cherry me baby lips in the pan so the color doesn t settle cherry me baby lips on the bottom.) Once the chapsticks harden, add a few more drops of the melted liquid to each chapstick tube so it s is filled to the top. Take your time to make sure your tops look pretty and rounded. Let your chapsticks cool completely, and then add their caps. Label with Pink Lemonade Printable Labels (optional).

Cannot wait to try these! I am ordering the beet powder today. Was thinking of using macadamia nut oil instead of grape seed. Also, does the beet powder give enough color that it actually tints the lips?
No. 1/4 teaspoon of beet root powder is only enough to tint the chapstick. If you want to add more so it’s a light-colored lip gloss, add a tablespoon. The final product will look more red than pink though. You can find the lip gloss that I made with it here: http://newleafwellness.biz/2014/03/12/homemade-naturally-tinted-lip-balm/
Thanks! cherry me baby lips I think what I’ll try is to make it in the proportions you have given. I’ll fill up half the tubes, then try adding more beet powder to the rest. So I’ll have some that give my lips a tint, and some that don’t, for kids. Can’t wait for my beet powder cherry me baby lips to arrive! cherry me baby lips
Finally made them…amazing! Fun, easy project. Hardest thing was just gathering all the materials. I don’t really smell the lemon very much
